rockin' tacos

C
an you keep up with me because I know I cant. Lately I have had the good fortune of having to cook a lot and nothing makes me happier than making people happy and nothing makes me happier than that than rising up to the varied requests that get thrown at me. Now after all that I present to you food I could make with my eyes closed.

Tacos are fun, tacos are easy and tacos make people happy.

These mixed seafood tacos came together way too easy. I grilled a mix of scallops, calamari and shrimp that had been seasoned with a blend of secret spices along with some onions that I let turn to a caramel goo. Generous slices of tomato as well as jalapeno and cilantro made these tacos so tasty with only a squeeze or two of lime.

If this wasnt enough I decided it was time to go to crazy town for some dessert.

Apple bananas with peanut butter and chocolate zapped in the nuker for a few seconds and then I hit them with a little whipped cream but it was an after thought and didnt make it for the photo session. I think next time I will sprinkle some little bacon pieces all around and call the whole thing 'The Elvis' -

It is getting hard to keep up with you for sure :) The tacos look excellent and I love the idea of a stuffed banana - that would definitely be popular at my house!

This is why I love you, DoggyB--I never would have thought to make calamari tacos, but they look fantastic!! If I am ever back in NY, I'll pay you to cook me a meal--I'm sure it would be better than any restaurant I could go to there.

You have to be faster than a speeding food processor to keep up with you these days. Those tacos look delicious - would never have thought of squid in a taco.

Christo Gonzales said...

tavolini: I almost did eat these tacos all day - they were that good

girli: that sounds like its rated PG13

zoe: the dessert is insanely easy...

linda: yup - on a whirlwind cooking spree...

See, my problem is I never make my food pretty. People eat too fast. I think I'd have some upset customers if I served dessert in a banana skin; they're strange like that.

Calarmari and shrimp! That sounds like the best seafood taco ever...better than plain 'ol fish.

Those seafood taco's are great. We aren't big on taco's here in Britain at all. I do make lots of pita's with various fillings. The only taco's we get are tacky ones in a box!

Christo Gonzales said...

oneshot: and va va va voom too

marjie: now who made them strange like that? hmmmmmmmmmmm

duo: this is a kicked up version....

jenn@slim: I can never get tired of them either

foodcreate: thanks and a happy monday to you too

TBD: ME TOO

anette: if you hurry you might make it by tomorrow....

belle: always sneaking past - what, no tacos in britain?!- time to open up shop

My freaking goodness. You have been one busy cook! I am amazed at all of the wonderful foods you have prepared. The shrimp tacos are over the top! AS if that weren't enough, your apple banana dessert is just plain crazy goodness!!!

I think I need to come and vacation at your place because you are cooking a heck of a lot and you are right, we can't keep up with you. Now that is the kind of filling I would delight in for a taco!

lisaiscooking said...

I want some of those tacos! Dessert doesn't look bad either.

Christo Gonzales said...

sara: mixed seafood - thats the norm... now taco - that was a last minute idea

KatherineA: get out...you made a pie lure that was out of this world...its like some kind of bait....

angie: hook them up

buff: you lost me there - walls -ceilings - what are you trying to say exactly...

hummmigbird: hey welcome to the melee

cynthia: I need to open up a bed and breakfast....thats also open for lunch and dinner..

lisais: you could make these in two short whistles....

Reeni said...

We'll never be able to make awesome seafood tacos like this without your secret spices! I guess you can expect us all for dinner. Candy apple bananas? Never heard of them but I love 'em!

That dessert ROCKS! And so does the tacos. I wish I could make such delicious stuff with my eyes closed too. Since it's that easy for you, perhaps you could whip up a few extras for me next time...;-)

How do you continue to make the coolest food on the planet? These look out of this world. I would have never dreamed of using calamari, although we love it fried or in a salad from one of Patricia Wells cookbooks. Great idea.
Your rockin' tacos are marvelous - simply marvelous.

Doggy...you are so insane...I love it. Your tacos are fantastic but your banana concoction is over the top. Great job.

Wow, these tacos will make me really happy. Love the banana too - perfect late night snack. Also, good to see your tomatoes growing. Can't wait to see if the fruits live up to their fancy names.

Tacos do make people happy. In fact, we just used up some shrimp in exactly this fashion. So I have one suggestion: avocado. That's the only thing we added to ours compared to your recipe. And isn't it amazing how the lime juice just ties it all together? Mmmm, maybe we'll be doing them again this week...
