wanna' see my cookies?

Kids and bakes sales are synonymous or are they homonyms or are they allegorical or are they just a necessary evil? Whatever they are I have been participating since I am the alpha dad. The class is raising money for the 5th grade trip to Washington, D.C. The alternative school my kid goes to celebrates diversity in all peoples and their school mascot (for lack of a better term) is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Every year they put on their big talent show called the " Honoring the Dream Celebration" and it takes place the week of Kings birthday, so you can imagine how exciting this trip to DC is going to be and its my sons last year at this school. I made chocolate cheesecakes, my kid special requested them, for the last two bake sales so I thought I would change it up a little and make cookies, plus they are easier.

These cookies are vegan, yup vegan but with a cookie that isnt hard to do, no eggs no dairy.

Oatmeal, coconut with a carob glaze.

Those look yummy. I'm sure they raised a lot of money for the bake sale.

Christo Gonzales said...

joie: well there were 2 dozen and they went for a buck each - I know, pricey, but we are in NYC, there were a lot of baked goods to choose from as well.

I think it is wonderful that you put your kiddos in an alternative school...what a wonderful idea to teach them about the world and themselves..

Good for you for offering a vegan choice! I've seen far to many sugar free and vegan families want to support this type of activity, but end up just donating without a purchase. And these look delightful!

Those look great! My daughter went to an alternative school, too, which is where she became a vegetarian (though not vega) so that all seems to work!

just telling: all I try and do is point in the right direction and hope the direction I am pointing in is right.

dana: it is actually easier to make vegan cookies - go figure - and they end up tasting no different.

jeanne: I am by no means promoting any kind of diet. We are not vegans.
