Mermaids

Mermaid, Mermen, Sirens, a fabled marine creature with the head and upper body of a human being and the tail of a fish. Similar divine or semidivine beings appear in ancient mythologies (e.g., the Chaldean sea god Ea, or Oannes). In European folklore, mermaids (sometimes called sirens) and mermen were natural beings who, like fairies, had magical and prophetic powers. They loved music and often sang. Though very long-lived, they were mortal and had no souls.

Another Friday

Just out of the blue we up and went to the big sand playground and got lucky when we saw Little Anthony And The Imperials Wednesday at Battery Park City and ate the best grilled vegetable sandwiches I have ever made. It was a great way to spend sunset, cool grass, warm sandwiches, manchego cheese and oldies. Lots of fun and seasickness when we left, those water taxis' "seem" so seductive.

Swimming

We have gone to the pool almost every single day for the past 5 weeks and my boy can now swim! He can dive to the bottom to get a nickel and he can almost start to do the crawl stroke. He floats on his back calmly and mostly doggy paddles. We have been to the beach only once but as far as the swimming there went it was great, he has really come a long way. We were swimming in a lake just two days ago. I am so proud and happy. We will be in Carmel, NY for a few days at a lake house and this should be great, we already found wild raspberries on Sunday at Harriman so we know they are out there, maybe we will get lucky and find some nice mushrooms as well.
