nippy out
Who wants chocolate? I love hot chocolate, in fact I love it so much I make a cold version of hot chocolate in the summer, remind me and I will show you.
What is all this stuff, you ask. Well its my hot chocolate factory, thats what. You might want to open a new window for google, or crack out all your dictionaries because I am about to get technical on you.
The large steel item is called a sauce pan, serious - look it up. The package is Abuelita chocolate, I use this when I am feeling lazy. The brown wooden thing is called a molinillo and it is used to whip the chocolate into its velvety smooth and delightful consistency.
That 'tool' is called a microplane and I use it for all kinds of things including grating fresh nutmeg, which I cannot live without, and I have to have fresh nutmeg on my hot cocoa or it doesnt taste good.
So crack out your own factory and have a cup or two, and by the way we use soymilk, I know it takes away from some of the romance but we are much healthier as a result, and we make it ourselves.

you absolutely crack me up, are you sure you are not a woman? You better have Banana check you out in the shower and make sure! I've never known a man that can not live without nutmeg before.
Your hot cocoa looks wonderful but it is 86 degrees here today, I am tasting the margarita's already along with my fresh caught tuna and your couli sauce!
what are you doing making fun of me....nutmeg will get you high and you can trip if you have enough of it...I am not some welder dude that isnt comfortable with all aspects of my sexuality - thank you very much.
your very welcome sweet stuff,
here I am so naive, I did not know you can get high on it..but Iam so gald to know that you are comfortable in your sexuality, I will sleep better at night now knowing that!
I had nutmeg in my feta/spinach calzones, but I've never tried it in hot cocoa. I'll try it next time!
By the way, Have you seen the film "Chocolat"? Your tools looks like the one used in the film.
Annette is right! I loved Chocolat! And I sure do love a good pot of hot chocolate. The girls and I have it on Christmas morning, and some especially cold winter mornings. The guys love it, too, although they won't admit it. Sometimes we add coffee and have a pot of mocha. The poor hubby groans. He likes coffee, but I'm a tea girl myself.
snugs: see - you can learn from me
anette: nutmeg and spinach go great together - and so does chocolate and egg nog and hot buttered rum drinks
marjie and annete: I have see the film - there are simpler versions of this 'molinillo' mine is a very 'fancy'one.
marjie: mocha is better but I have a 10 year old that I am not ready to get him hopped up on coffee yet.
Wow. I feel like I'm taking a walk on the wild side when I add a squirt of Hershey's syrup to the Swiss Miss packet.
Dog- are we flyin' on the same plane today?
I will take a cup of that...please
Hot chocolate? Are you experiencing some shrinkage in the nippy weather? Is your fascination with nutmeg because you share the same dimensions?
jeanne: well that works too, add some cinnamon and nutmeg and you are set.
chef e: big mug or little cup?
coco loco: you and snugs need to get together and start a forum...
Your molinillo is beautiful! Around here we use a $4 milk frother from Ikea, it's like a manic battery powered mini whisk and my son loves to use it.
Today we had perfect weather to enjoy a nice hot cup of cocoa....too bad I didn't think of it. Here's to tomorrow!
I love fresh nutmeg in my coffee.
I also love thick Mexican hot chocolate but rarely find it except at City Bakery. So thick and yummy. 1000 calories a cup. Worth every sip.
Nutmeg makes the roof of my mouth itch, so fortunately I don't like the taste. Love chocolate, though! How do you make the cold one? Couldn't you tell us now, please?
You have some fancy schmancy stuff there, Dogg!!
maggie: it is a rather ornate little bugger...my immersion blender works faster..
harmony: thats the spirit...LOL
stace: I could never count calories - it would defeat my enjoyment...
joy: fun how an antiquated way of making something gets elevated to the level of gourmet isnt it?
Oh! what a great idea for this storm we have coming in. The movie Chocolat, you're hot chocolate and thick blank to snuggle in.....
I am just so common! Frother? Hmmm... This blog is very educational for me:) But I do love Hot Chocolate. A Scottish friend told me to try honey in it and it gives it a richer flavor.
I'll never forget the first time sailing into Granada on a sailboat, 3 or 4 miles offshore you could smell the nutmeg.
spin: some snuggle action huh? is that a code word?
starrlife: you are probably not as common as you think....funny thing is these 'frothers' are so common in mexcio you can buy one at any curios shop...
micky t: that is a perfect memory, sailing, visuals and aromas - pretty cool!
I've never seen a molinillo before, but thanks to you, I looked it up, very cool!
We put cinnamon in ours- wife drinks it all the time...
jessica: they look cool and a variety of them would look more cool..
buff: the mexican chocolate has cinnamon - so we add its cousin - nutmeg...
I love vanilla soymilk in hot chocolate...
I love your new camera and the way you are shooting these days. everything looks so delicioso
Wow, can you believe the luck...nice and toasty today! Perfect weather for the boys to go out and ride their motorcycles.
NO NO NO!!!!!! NO SOYMILK! Dog, your killin me here...come on...a little milk fat is good for the soul and the skin. Use the real stuff! I know when I come over, I aint havin NO SOYMILK in my hot chocolate! but the rest I can deal with.
and you are SOOO gay. Just sayin.
jill: very vanilla......
deb: I had an epiphany
harmony: its even colder here - snowing now
beth: we eat enough cheese and butter to make up for it -
gay? does that explain why I have always been over sexed and under loved? just askin'? not gay yet - lets see how long I can hold out...LOL - I missed what could have been fun gay years - I dont even want to think about 'geriatric gay'...
dog, if you're gay then so am I!
YOU HAD AN EPIPHANY! YOU'VE SEEN MY LIFE LATELY.
Seriously the consistancy has been nice. Artistic, as you are. My cooking has been so scarce. I am afraid I might lose it.
;)
I'll put the cinnamon in mine!
You and your fancy molinillo. I have one, but have never used it. It just looks pretty in my utensil jar.
Wouldn't want a kitchen without a microplane, though. One of the better inventions of recent years.
Enjoy your cocoa!
Abuelita knows best ;)
I now have a serious hankering for hot chocolate. And potato chips...
