T
he long awaited root beer update is finally in. Remember 5 days ago we started a batch of root beer? Prognosis is positive, I am certain with more practice it will be even better, though this is hard to imagine.

The beverage is sweet but not too sweet, foams up a nice head and is pleasantly carbonated, be cautioned that it does have a mild amount of alcohol present, it is hard to avoid when you mix yeast and sugar.

Time to make some floats, we still have enough ingredients to make 12 more liters!

Looks and sounds great! I've made hard cider, and even a crude applejack. Cider was great, applejack tasted like lighter fluid...

Where would you guess it ranks on the burping quotient?

buff: I need to learn the difference between hard cider and applejack...

ap: depends - are we talking 'say the alphabet' burping or what?

Let's say a quick joke like EF or FF?

Very cool - I've got to say, I have friends who are into the home brewing thing but being that they are twenty-something guys it's all micro-beers and such right now...homemade root beer sounds like a hell of a treat!

daily spud: hey its in fruitcake isnt it?

Kirsten: they sell kits but its as easy with sugar, yeast, flavors and time.
