makin' whoopie

Remember last year when I made moonpies? Well try and think back, I know it seems like a long time ago but it was really only a couple of weeks. As it turns out moonpies and whoopie pies are basically the same thing, is that a synonym, homonym or antonym? Since I am basically never quelled with the run of the mill I thought I would reverse the whole deal and, quite frankly, I think these are more of a 'moon' pie.

Make a little blonde cookie/cake batter.

Bake the blonde batter.

Let the blonde cookies cool.

Fill the blonde cookies with a nutella, chocolate, cream cheese frosting and stand guard unless you want to see them disappear in seconds.

You would think I was done with all of this festive baking after the holidays but here at ChezWhat the cooking, baking, shopping is never done and cross my heart and hope to die I hope it never ends!

I'm no big fan of chocolate flavored foods, although I could seriously live on good chocolate, so these look like a great alternative!

The best part is taking a big bite and trying to catch the filling on the other side. That has to help you burn at least 0.5 calories while you're eating, right?

Love me some moonpies! Trailer Park in Chelsea had them on the menu...not homemade, though. Did you read that article in The Times awhile back about the resurgence of the moonpie?

Anything with Nutella has to be good, right? From the looks of other's comments, they must think the same thing.

Oh my!!! Those whoopie pies look, no doubt taste, fabulous. Do you have any left? They would not last 20 minutes at my house.

I hope you are staying warm.

I so want to make whoopie pies and clever you did both chocolate and vanilla (whoopie pies, moonpies, same difference, as we'd say). Look scrumptious!
