looks are deceiving

Look closely at this photo and tell me what you see.

If you said cheeseburger with ketchup you are looking close but not looking close enough and you know I didnt eat it, I dont put ketchup on my burgers or hot dogs.

If you said cheeseburger and fries but this one has melted cheese and no ketchup then you might be closer still.

If you said seasoned fries then you hit the jackpot. Seasoned fries are easy to make. You slice your potatoes and rince them till the water is clear then blanch them quickly in hot oil let them cool, dust them with seasoned flour and then dunk them in the seasoning bath. Seasoning bath? Whats that? The seasoning bath is a light and watery batter made with a little flour and your favorite seasoning flavors that is thin enough to drizzle off a spoon. Now you put the floured fries into the flavor bath and then one by one in the hot oil so that they dont clump or stick together and fry until golden. Delicious, simple and oh so - not average.

Those aren't your run of the mill fries, but you never do anything run of the mill. They look great!

Definitely not average indeed. That's an interesting way of making them. Whoa...I just heard my stomach grumble and I already eaten dinner. The fries have some magic to them.

LK: it works in such a good way - you have to make sure to have a light coating

melody: I might have a different mill - you never know

teresa: thanks - its a kid favorite

jenn: I am used to that grumbling now with all the delicious blogs out there

Mmmmmmm delicious! I love fries but rarely ever make them at home. I need to get my butt in gear and make these tasty little taters :)

It was hard not to notice the crispy fries first. I definitely need to give these a go.

Thick and crispy fries. Good with a burger...or a steak. :)

These are my kind of fries. I love the seasonings and that you fried them twice. That makes them so much crispier. Nice pomme frites and your burger looks yummy too.

I have never heard of seasoning bath before either but I will definitely give it a try. Would it work with sweet potato fries also - I am thinking the coating might help keep them crisp so they don't go soggy....

The question you posed almost sounded Freudian.

Must try your method of seasoning them, the fries look perfect.

Homemade fries are the best!! I would love to have a taste of the ones you made.

I am still attempting to figure out how to make sweet potato fries without destroying them because those are my very favorite, but I haven't quite mastered them yet. I can make a mean sweet potato soup though. :)

Your fries sound fantastic!

Light batter is what I like! Kind of like a Belgian frite, the double fried French fry they make...

Um, yes please. YES!!!! Look at the size of those delicious, seasoned creatures.

I love a good seasoned fry, but I don't fry anything. Hubby has a fit if I try and cook anything that might splatter and burn me. And I'm with you on the no ketchup thing, too. Cheese, tomatoes and pickles are enough!

Never heard of a "seasoning bath" but I'm ready to take the plunge.

Just yesterday my friend was describing how she makes her fries and describes the double frying. I never knew that about making your own fries, and now I know how to season them (well kind of, you never give measurements or anything like it).
