Ida know
Hurricane Ida is making a drab day even more drab here in the Big Apple. Flights are delayed, the rain is cold, the wind is whipping in all directions, its not pleasant.
Chicken soup makes everything better. Slow simmered chicken to make broth, fresh hot chicken pulled from the bone cut into bite size chunks, mixed vegetables in large pieces - medicine that is so good for you and it wont matter if you get dependent on it. I am part of Springpad now and I need to start "spelling out" my recipes to fit into their format - you know how slow that process is going to be - I have been avoiding recipes like the plague.
I am addicted to soup and chicken soup is one of my crutches now if I can only get over my recipe issues.

I'm liking the look of the broccoli and cauliflower in that soup..
You know I made some last weekend. Ryan has officially been diagnosed with flu, and it looks like a lot more chicken soup is entering my life. I'm glad all we got are the clouds and cold wind from Ida. It pays to be 80 to 90 miles inland.
is Ida coming this way? good grief. why? wtf.
can I be honest I hate sharing my recipes too. and my photos are my babies.
Looks like broccoli is making the rounds today. Delicious. Hope you stay dry and safe from Ida.
This looks like something I want to make ..right now and have it :)
I am envious of how gorgeous your broth looks. So clear, and wonderful choice of veggies.
snugs: looks good to me too...
marjie: I have seen so many chicken and dumplings and chicken soups lately I had to get in on it
dawn: I struggle with this whole recipe thing too much -
jenn: yeah I saw your broccoli I need to go back and comment
jhonny: go for it - its comfort all the way!
donna: its taken me years to make a clear broth - thanks for noticing.
It was a nasty, cold, winday here today. Perfect for soup, especially when I have a head cold that won't stop.
I am craving this very thing! So unique with broccoli and cauliflower. I still struggle with writing out the recipes - it's my least favorite thing to do.
That soup is definitely perfect for this dreary weather we're having!
Soup always makes it better. Hope the weather clears up soon....I'm tired of crappy weather.
yea...the weather is getting so horrible now. this is what I want now!
I've found that like tea is the answer to any troublesome sitiation in the UK, chickensoup is the answer in the US. I'm trying to think what the equivalent to this is in Norway??
Ben loves chicken soup. I can't eat it, since I always had to eat it when I was sick.
i love my men like i like my weather...cold & miserable.
and chicken soups eases both.
Oh how right you are! Homemade chicken soup DOES make everything better and much more cozy! Yours look perfect!
I've seen my share of hurricanes and you can keep them. Your soup sounds like the perfect solution to a rainy day. North Carolina got a lot of it too. Thankfully we're in sunny Florida for the week.
Stay dry.
Sam
Hopefully it'll pass before the weekend! Our Ida weather hit earlier this week, but we're sunny and low 70's now :)
Soup is on the menu for everyone, it seems! Love your vibrant vegetables.
You, like myself, assume if you tell people what's in it, they will figure out the quantities...We're wrong, and we must change!
Yummy!
Hey just wanted to let you know that I have been reading on Tonka beans. They are banned in the U.S. because they contain high doses of Coumarin. That is what Wafarin is based on. (My stepson James takes Wafarin) Also it may cause damage to heart and liver. May also be tied to cancer. Just thought you should know.
I was going to buy some but once I saw that I thought nah...not worth the risk.
freeze that solid, and mail it to me...I need some medicine for my soul today.
I agree, chicken soup makes everything better! Sorry to hear you are suffering through the storm. I have a few friends along the East Coast who are NOT happy with Ida!
