puta-carbo-nesca-fredo

W
hat would you call a pasta sauce that has bacon, cream, garlic, onions, cheese and anchovies - well besides 'a mess'?

I didnt know what to call it so I ended up naming her 'velvet' since this combination was so smooth yet full bodied, not crisp like a tulle or bumpy like a chenille just soft and plush like a velvet. I still had a little left over carrot pasta and it was lunch time so you put two and two together with me and you end up with a threesome.

While I plowed through this the pup had himself a cheesesteak with salt and vinegar chips, but I sneak in flavors on him all the time and this time I had put in a little of the pickle juice from some pickled jalapenos I had made. He couldnt figure out how 'it was a little spicy but really good!' Shhh, secrets are secrets ok?

On another note my tomatoes are making little 'maters.

- the anchovies and I would call that heaven...why did you have to ruin it with those stinky anchovies?
btw, happy Father's Day :)

Dammit! Your tomatoes have hopscotched right past mine! We have not even gotten to 65 this week.

Your pasta looks good, other than those anchovies. My dearly beloved would like them. A mess often tastes best.

After this post of yours, I may find Velvet on restaurant menus one day in the near future. Btw, have a nice weekend!

Velvet it is! Velvet is so not a mess..it looks like something that would comfort me on my worst day.

Happy father's day

I would call "velvet" perfect. You should bottle that.

I don't call that mess or velvet, I call that good!

Great idea on adding a little of the pickle juice to the sandwich!

Can I have half a cheesesteak with a small pasta side?

I happen to LOVE anchovies. It's such a shame that so many pizza places don't offer them as a topping anymore.

jason: thanks - it tastes way better than it looks

jenn: thanks for the fathers day wishes

kenny: velvet needs a more attractive pasta - these colors are not working

peachkins: thanks for the fathers day wishes

TW: thats flattery 'par excellence' thanks

pam: he also claims not to like mushrooms but I dry them and mix them in like a condiment and he thinks the flavor is great....

You just wanted to say puta ;) Velvet sounds like a puta-esque name, actually...so I think that's perfect! And I love adding a little pickling juice to sammies, too...get that from hubby.

A plate of pasta like that would erase all my cares away. The cheese steak looks pretty darn tasty, too. Cool pics of the maters!

Smart use of pickle juice--my dad was also a fan of putting a bit of spice in our food, the same way!

Isn't it exciting with the tomatoes?? Tavo and I were jumping up and down and showing all our friends our little green tomatoes. We get excited quite easily...
