who wants it

N
ot a day goes by where someone doesnt ask me 'whats your favorite omelete, dogg?' And then I am forced to narrow it down to one. I would have to say though that if I could get squash blossoms everyday then the squash blossom omelete would be the favorite.

My old standby favorite that goes way back to when I was in college is the mushroom, alfalfa sprout and cream cheese omelete. This flavor combination is hard to describe and even harder to beat. Try it, its addicting. (and for the record - no one ever asks me what my favorite omelete is)

If you can name this accurately I will put your name in a hat with whomever else names it accurately and have a drawing to give it away. Cheat however you want but the name and spelling has to be exact. Good luck and I hope someone wants the dang thing! If it starts to seem like no one is getting it I will post more and more revealing photos. Oh and I forgot to mention that I will be quietly putting those names in a hat and I will tell you later who the lucky contestants are.

Here is another clue, oh and did I forget to mention that the contest ends at midnight tonight, yup midnight on June 8 in NYC that means nine o' clock for all you Westies out there and 6 am June 9 for all you Euros. I will be putting up one more clue around 8 pm NYC time to try and help out.

Ok last clue you bunch of half wits. I will give this thing away whether you want it or not! I should probably just pick someone like Marjie - for example, but it is highly impractical for her.

3 minutes left and we only have four people that said ' molonillio' its going to make a complex drawing.... sweta, leela, diva and selba......but wait at the last minute ....
...we got got girli by the skin of her teeth.....5 people will be entered into the contest.

I want it ... but I'm not sure what it is ... yet. Need to stare at it some more. LOL

If you take the blossoms off the squash plant does it still bear fruit? Yes, I'm a dumb*ss. Your thing looks a lot like the center locking hub cap on my 4WD GM Suburban. I don't need any more; thanks anyway.

Ok, here's my guess: its a molinillo for making hot chocolate!

It's hard to guess what that is, looks something porcelain....

I'm with Diva - I stared pretty hard, but the best I can come up with is Mexican Pottery.

Love the squash blossoms too! The last time I found some was at the Farmers Market in Charleston. I filled them with goat cheese and sauteed them. Yum.

I can't believe the size of that mushroom!!! It was so big it was scary, but your mock scallops looked out of this world.

Omelettes with squash blossoms-sounds like a flowery poetry!! Gosh-2 guesses,it looks like a "artistic" plug for the kitchen sink or a fruit bowl(did I get all the spelling's rite????) ;)

Looks like wooden hot chocolate maker thingy that my mom brought me back from Mexico :)
I already have one though, so if I am right you can give my guess to someone else :)

Oh, that's a Molinillo (para chocolate, etc.) for sure. I bought one a while back but have never used it. It's too pretty to use.

I have never seen or used alfalfa sprouts and omelet in the same sentence before, but, you know what, you got me curious. I sprout my own alfalfa all the time and always have mushroom, cream cheese, and eggs in the fridge. If you say it's addicting, I'll give it a shot.

I'm going to be adventurous and call it a "mortero" which is used to grind not only cocoa but other seeds...
I'm an omelette queen, one every day without fail! I've never seen squash blossoms, they must be delicious :)

Okiedokie... the contest is still open, rite? ;)

So.. I did some research and found out that Molinillo or moussoir (an authentic Mexican Chocolate "whisk" or "stirrer") has a few different of types although the purpose is the same which is for mixing warm chocolate, Atole, and Champurrado.

The ones that you are showing in the pictures here has a special name which is "Oaxacan molinillo".

My first thought was a butter churner. Duh. A hot chocolate maker - it looks so big for that. I love squash blossomes! Stuffed and fried. And cream cheese omelets are the best!

Looks like I've arrived too late for guesses but a good riddle, not sure I would have known the answer if it wasn't already given. Love the idea of an omelet with squash blossoms.

Heather S-G said...

Oh man, skin of my teeth (busy day)...I really did know it was a molinillo. Um, Gonzalez.
