curry in a hurry

T
here are many ways to spell spicy and curry is one of them. We eat spicy around here most every day in some way or another. Just like a bad dye job, my New Mexico roots keep on showing and they show up anytime chile or spicy is mentioned. After making some roast chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and some sauteed string beans to satisfy a comfort itch there was a little left over chicken. Left over chicken with mayonnaise and and some nice hot curry powder can turn an ordinary chicken salad into a chicken salad that I want to eat.

Cut off a decent size hunk of a bastone loaf or whatever bread you have around and fill it up with delicious and chunky curried chicken; stuff a few mixed greens and some sprouts and you have a sandwich fit for an Earl of Sandwich - kind of sandwich, sandwich - whew I felt like I was trapped in the revolving door of having to keep on saying sandwich-sandwich. You can also try this with some fried tofu that has been tossed together with an aioli and the curry powder too if meat aint your thang!

I love this sandwich & swear I could eat curry on just about anything. As far as roots showing those Southwestern roots do make us more fervent about seeking out that heat! This sandwich looks like a winner & I'll have to try this one. Wonderfulness! Thanks for sharing.

I had a sandwich yesterday on Calandra's bastone too! How weird.
I bought it at their bakery in Fairfield, NJ, hot and fresh, but the chicken was missing from in between the pieces. Boo hoo.

Yes. Spicy is always around our kitchen. Aoli and I don't mix well. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it always tastes too olive oily for me.

And yes - I'm sure I've got the measurements correct.

Those sprouts look good--nice complement to the curry.

It's a sandwich time of year, isn't it?

My God that looks good, and I'm sitting here with my stomach growling and my head hurting from being so hungry and I'm having Hong Cock Walk, or whatever the hell they call that Chinese place down the road.

Oh well.

I have noticed that you can take the boy out of New Mexico, but even NYC can't take New Mexico out of the boy! Love your green accents!

Great idea putting the curry in a sandwich!
In India,Pizza Hut has a "Tandoori chiken" pizza and a "Chicken tikka" pizza too! Maybe you should try it as a pizza topping next and call it "Curry Chicken Pizza" ;)
BTW,what brand of curry powder do you use?

Oh, that sounds good!

Food to grab and enjoy, its that time of the year! And if you drop a sprout, you either pick it up and eat it or leave it to grow!
