Fish and Chips
Check out my guest post its all about the green over at MarxFoods.
Maybe if I am lucky I will find a greatly reduced corned beef today, its not that the price kept me away from it this year in fact I dont know why I didnt have the overwhelming urge that I always have for corned beef but I do have it now; I love it on fresh rye with wilted cabbage and a good stiff mustard.
Nope none for me right now but I did have fish and chips with this lovely wild caught scarlet snapper. Jenn at Bread + Butter made fish and chips and I had to have some.
Needing a break from the boiled meat I switched to fried. Fried potatoes and fried fish what more could you want? As a kid I always thought the "chips" of fish & chips were those little crunchy bits of batter that came off the fish and I would always ask if I could have more of those and was always surprised and confused when I got loaded up with more french fries. I like my fish with malt vinegar and I eat my fries with mayo.

Oh my . . .
I love fish and chips as well and I love mine with vinegar. I like fries with mayo, too, but when I treat myself to fried potatoes (not nearly as often as I'd like), I just eat them "naked" these days.
Hooray for fish and chips. Add me to the group of fries and mayo. Yum!!!
I had Fish & Chips just the other day at a restaurant but with salad instead of chips. I wish I could do this more often at home but I don't think I have the set-up with a fryer. Yours looks delicious.
YUM! I am so glad I discovered your blog!!
i haven't tried making fish and chips...
Arthur Treacher's aint got NUTHIN on you dog!!!
Lovely presentation of your fish and chips. Who wouldn't love this. French fries with mayo, huh? Now that's thinking outside the box.
Sam
vickie: naked taters - sounds risque
jenn: thanks for the inspiration - I forgot to link you but I did this morning
papa: how do you have fish and chip without the chips?
jessica: I am glad too - welcome
peach: you should try it
beth: arthur who?
sam: I had them that way once in belgium and it stuck!
I love corned beef too...but I think I'd take your fish 'n chips over CB any day of the week! Looks yummy!
This looks great. That fish photo makes me envious-I can't get fish that looks like that usually! Hey, but where are the peas?
That looks delicious! I like mine with malt vinegar, too :)
I have been craving fish and chips! Perfect timing!
Wow! those pieces of fish look real fresh! I like my fish with a squeeze of lemon juice and the chips with ketchup...the best sauce for fries me think:D
i have had a hankering for fish and chips for about 2 months now. must make. you think tilapia is too delicate? hope you and your boy are doing well and banana too!
I like fried fish with salad or some vegetables...yours looks marvellous. Gotta try the recipe soon...
Christo!! That is gorgeous. We too neglected the "traditional" Irish food and had pasta.
Now I must have fish and chips, darn you Jenn!!
I like fries and mustard personally.
I'm a serious foodie, and I've been meaning to check out your blog Christo, good stuff. I'm assuming the photography is yours too, nice. Coincidentally, I did beer battered Swai last night, and it turned out FAB! Just lemon on mine! I'd never tried it before, but for the price, I thought I should at least give it a chance. Mild, but good flavor, nice big fillets, can't wait to try them on a grill.
I did the frites and mayo in Amsterdam, but I'm more of a cheese and green chile on my fries kind of gal. Ahh, Lotaburger...
I've never been able to master frites, even twice fried, any suggestions?
I love fish and chips once in a while. Now I feel like eating it....mmmm
Dear Christo - I have a itty bitty bighearted award for you THE SUNSHINE AWARD! Please do claim it by checking out my blog!
Ciao,
Devaki @ weavethousandflavors
BTW, love your take on fish!
We had some last week, and the fish was great, but the fries were limp and undercooked...I made a corned beef Wed. and it hit the spot!
I've been meaning to get fish and chips lately, I've been craving them. This post didn't help that. Heh.
love the authentic look... heading over to check your guest spot
oh my I am so craving this now!!!
Ya know, there's a ton of fish and chips in Ireland too ... this practically counts as a St. Patrick's Day meal! Heaven knows the chips count ... chips come with *everything* in Ireland ... even lasagna! LOL
I found corned beef on sale for a buck and bought 6. Or, to be precise, I sent Patrick for 6. He was not amused. I love corned beef! I'd love your fish & chips, too!
Thanks for the Birthday wishes! This fish looks amazing. I love to make fish and chips with fresh Catfish or Crappie..
Everything is better fried! Oh yeah.
dude, just corn your own beef! you make your own cheese, you can do this! I made my own this year (out of a pot roast, for christ's sake!) and it was 10 million times better than aything I've gotten from the store.
Fish and Chips are an Irish meal - especially if your Catholic and it's Friday.. 2 out of 3 is good odds, so it's an Irish Dinner. Happy St. Paddy's
My favorite part about fish and chips -- besides the photos on your post -- are all the fish and chip shops in London that have proudly and profoundly bad puns: Rock and Soul Plaice, for example. Mmmm... vinegar.
