rollin rollin rawhide

We've got three hundred and sixty sum days until the mystery man contest is over and so far Saddam Hussien is edging out Richard Nixon. Keep those guesses coming. Its like that massive jellybean jar that you have to guess how many jellybeans and the dang thing sits there for years because no one has ever guessed it. How cool is that. It will make me feel like I walked into a small town neighborhood bank and everyone knew everyone else. Barbecues and rodeos and bake sales. We had pancake socials and cake walks. The annual meatball festival. Stuff like that.

Whew, was I getting lost in a dream or what? Lets eat sushi rolls! Snap me right back to reality.

Not just any old roll either. Special rolls with arugula, green onion, wasabi, cucumber, pickled ginger, and wild sockeye salmon.

Roll em up and cut em' - eat em' and make more.

Dont forget the wasabi and the ginger!

My daughters love sushi. I just can't wrap my brain around eating raw fish. It's pretty, but not for me.

I love sushi especially because of the wasabi that always give me a fun and tickling sensation when it got to my nose, hehehe...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sushi. If I could everyday I would.

I love the rolls you made. Stuffed with deliciousness. Pass the soy sauce and ginger because I want some right now!

I love sushi. I have never made it at home but I totally should. I'm not sure whats stopping me....

BTW quick question on the picture naming contest. Can we have multiple guesses or do we have to change our previously stated guess to say another? Also does the contest immediately end when someone guesses correctly or will the winner be announced in a year? Sorry for the questions:)

marjie: enough soy sauce and wasabi and it cooks itself....

selba: I love how wasabi does that

jenn: you got it sister!

nutmeg: get rollin' - and the contest ends August 10, 2010 whether there is one winner no winners or multiple winners.

I'm a bit sceptic to raw fish, but I think sushi is very beautiful food!

copy cat :) teasing this looks so divine I can't wait to make it again! Wonder how frozen, then thawed salmon would taste? Yum!

"Rawhide" was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. And sushi is one of my favorite foods now.

I often wonder what goes on behind closed doors in towns with meatball festivals, cake walks and such.

Lovely sushi.

Cool that you used ruccola salad instead of cucumber...that makes sushi quite special. Sometimes I think I eat sushi just because I want to have Washabi....

your sushi looks great although I'm not a big sushi eater. I love california roll more than sushi..

You make it look so easy. I really like that the wasabi is in the roll instead of on the side.

Wasabi is a must with raw fish- for me!

I love that you added arugula to my favorite salmon.
I would love some for lunch today, sushi man.

Ooh--I love sushi! I had it earlier this week, but want it again, soon. Your rolls look fantastic :)

I have to narrow it down? Does that mean that one of my guesses is correct?

Let's see--for today, I'm guessing Billy Joel.

chances are the pic is you. lol
please bring on the sushi! I will never tire of sushi. did you make your own pickled ginger? I might give that a whirl someday...someday

ungourmet: absolutely...

anette: once you try it you will see- but then again you dont care for gravlax either....

laura: frozen then thawed is the way most of us get it we arent nearly as lucky as you in the salmon department!

jeanne: a total towfer!

nora: you should give it a try and a happy weekend to you too!

donna: I bet the tupperware parties take on a whole 'nother slant!

angie: wasabi, green onion and arugula made for a pleasant and spicy bite - now if I only had nasturtium!

peachkins: california rolls are good!

katherine: typically a little wasabi is either rubbed under the fish in nigiri sushi and on the rice in maki...

buffalo: then wasabi you will get!

stacey: spicy bites!

tavolini: you can guess as much as you like without retribution!

dawn: I will log that as a guess..homemade pickled ginger sounds great but this is NYC and some things are just easier to buy!

I can't believe you mixed sushi and rawhide! Brave!

I like the wasabi on the inside too! It blends in better with the other flavors instead of having right on your tongue in full force.

I wish I liked sushi but for some reason the seaweed and raw fish just don't do it for me.

The rolls you made look like they were made by top Japanese chefs!

Jackie at PhamFatale.com said...

You're a sushi expert. I always add a teeny bit of wasabi because oh boy it's spicy!

Christo Gonzales said...

TBD: I am not afraid to mix it up - thats fo' sho'

reeni: I also mix a little in the soy sauce for that extra kick!

pam: maybe nigiri sushi with a little braised eel or some steamed shrimp just to get you started?

Kenny: awwww kenny you make me so happy!

jackie: but once you get used to it then a little more and a little more...heeheeeheee

Not so much a fan of sushi, but I am so happy for you for getting the chance to go to the restaurant. How fantastic!! If octopus tastes anything like calimari, I'm up for it!!

what about soy sauce! It ain't a sushi unless it's got that soy sauce with the wasabi in it!

DB, the sushi is beautiful. I'm sure it's absolutely delicious. Fantastic job.

Yum! I just got some spicy tuna rolls from the farmers market here is this hick town. No meatball festivals, but we do have a big bologna that drops at midnight on new years eve. Gotta love it. BTW, thanks for the "Puttin on the Ritz" seranade. Impressive....very impressive! :)

Why did I use up all my smoked salmon yesterday! I have to get more so I can make these beauties. Love this combo with arugula too!
