beer thirty

Its gotta be five o:clock somewhere! I love that saying. Anyway I have been making beer since December and Ginger beer for an eternity. This last batch of Honey Nut Brown Ale came out great. It must have been, no it has to be, the honey! While it lost its head within a couple of minutes it still retained a nice carbonated fizz and a good hoppy bite and weighing in at 6% alcohol its not bad in the 'kick' department. I have a Ginger Pale Ale coming up and a nice Cinnamon Apple Ale in the hopper as well. I love homemade beer! It gets me all teary eyed and misty just thinking about it. What I like the most is learning to make more and more of the things I love - I am my own little island.

I just felt how dry my throat is!
Ah, that looks so tempting!

I like being my own little island, too. My kids laugh at me. I tell them they're jealous because they can't afford to tell the world to go away.

Oh yum! I'm just waiting for the day I can settle down in one place and start my beer and wine making plans. Did you purchase a kit?

My husand's cousin makes beer and recently we did a bit of sampling. This is the only way I like beer.

I'd love to try the Ginger Pale Ale. Is the Cinnamon Apple on the sweet side? How dark is it???

Can you ship me some?! ;P

It is 5 pm somewhere...just not here. :( That cinnamon apple flavor is nice! You could do some good bread with that!

Its always 5 o clock at our home. Feel free to bring any of your homemade concoctions over at anytime. Happy hour never ends.

Just telling it like it is said...

I love Beer...
Did I mention that I like home made beer...
I thought you could make it with 12% alcohol...
Wishful thinking...

Christo is having a great life! I don't know there'd be such a day that I'd be brewing my own beer. Size of apartments & crazily long working hours here are 2 major problems.

A couple of weeks ago, a guy did a home brewing demonstration for me - I was getting really happy on just the fumes. It looks like a lot of fun.

That really neat to make your own brew. That would be so awesome to have right about now!

I'd love to try making beer if only I had a place for the equipment. The honey ale sounds great. Wish I could taste it right now!

Homemade beer - very cool. We made it decades ago and it was the best beer ever. Also made root beer and made the mistake of leaving the bottles in a too-warm place. long-story short - shattered glass and brown sticky goo all over everything.

that would be great in a pancake batter.
when I was little my grandmother used to take me to a place in Pasadena, ca. named "Foxes" where they made the best beer battered pancakes. best pancakes ever.

I love Ginger Beer - I usually buy it ready-made but I bet home-made is wonderful.

This looks like my kind of beer! My Dad and brother have been making beer for awhile and are starting to get my boyfriend into it more. Also attempting to make hard cider this fall since they have an abundance of apples. Did you use a kit or just have different recipes to try?

And yes, next time you have out of town guests definitely check out Classic Harbor Line for some exciting sailing tours. There are a couple of beer pairings as well a sushi & sake pairing from Morimoto. So much fun!

I've made beer from the kit Mr Beer and haven't fully experimented with other flavors of beer. This makes me want to venture out on my own.
