land -o- plenty

I dont know what its like where you are and I do know what its like for some but NYC is in a class by itself. I know most people either love it or hate it - me included and I share both of those sentiments equally, but no doubt New York has stuff. Take beer for example, say you want to go to the store to get 'something new' and you are hit with this. What do you do? No Budwieser in sight, not that I am complaining since Bud is not for me but still. And this is only ONE store!

You can have tastes of some local micros and then get jugs if you want. I know of a little place a little south of this place that has about 3 -4 micros on tap that sells jugs for the same price - I go to my local place because I know them and we chat...

Look! Its a Matzoh factory!

We got samples.

Me too, I like it and hate it, mostly hate it though, especially when I am actually looking for something when I am browsing.

It is very different here in the Caribbean. I usually get a little overwhelmed when shopping in the US.

I live in a cultural, social, intellectual, and gastronomical wasteland.

This was cute!!! Variety is the spice of life after all (if it doesnt sent you mad first!!!)

I tried Matzoh for the first time last year - I love it, I love that you can break it into long pieces and eat dips, tuna etc etc etc.......

The main reason for trying it was, the people who own the company I work for are Jewish and during passover last year or maybe it was the new year, anyway we couldnt bring any food into the office, well we couldnt prepare anything here, so we bought this with olives and dips etc etc from the deli next door and sat outside in the sun and devoured it -it was so nice, I still eat it.

a matzoh factory....oy....i'd rather eat bagels....

and please....don't tell me its the water that makes the bagel greaet.....i was hoping it was cute jewish men lovingly attending the bagels that made them special

yeah, I think that's got Atlanta beat. I haven't been to a matzoh factory once. Not at all ;)

Jews don't make bagles anymore, however, they do make matzoh, sort of like most pizzerias are not owned by Italians! (& yes, it's in the water).

What store was that photo taken in?

I love the city, but glad I am live 20 miles away, so I can sleep thru the night without sirens.

You take the good with the bad.
You can always get a great bagel, I, however, can not!

Beer has come a long way... I preferred the foreigns over domestic for years- until the micro brewery came into it's own!

Dog- your scaring me with our similar posting stuff...scallops hiding in your fridge, or okra...how about some buffalo? (The kind with four legs)

Ahhh!! I thought the beer store looked like Whole Foods--I didn't want to be too...pedestrian...and suggest it!

You know I worked part time at Whole Foods here for almost 3 years? I was the kid who grilled the chicken, salmon and steak to order (and I'm a vegetarian. What a waste!)

My boyfriend would be in beer heaven in a store like that. He has no problem spending an hour lost in the liquor store studying the labels. He's a kid in a candy store.

I know I couldn't handle the people in NYC but that brew selection has me terribly envious.
