the comfort zone
Soup is a no brainer when it comes to comfort food, its right up there with mashed potatoes in my book of goodness. This soup is easy and fast, onion, carrot, celery, smoked pork neckbone, potato, lentils, salt, pepper, chicken stock.
Saute the vegetables until tender in olive oil add the pork add the lentils, stir a bit to coat add the stock and simmer until the lentils are done.
Serve with fresh bread from the left over pizza dough and slather on the butter, or not.

Roasted a big pork butt, wanted to make pork chili, or pork BB-Q sandwiches, or possibly a Mexican pork roll-up... now I gotta add soup to the list...
that looks great. Lentils are one of my favorite beans--they just cook up so quickly!

Pork and lentils!!! mmm they look so comforting...
You have blasted another one of my 'busy day working, so eat cereal nights' with lovely pictures of soup; although I had maple pecan whole grain cereal with maple brown sugar rice milk. Does that count for a beautiful meal like yours :)
Gotta love comfort food!
Lentil soup is one of my top five comfort foods! (I can't have just one.)
Cold weather's coming. Soup is good. I hope the Dakotas don't send us their blizzard.
Pizza dough bread's gonna be tough. Needs more liquids and fats to be good.

Yummy! Soup is the best thing about winter. That and snuggling up in front of the fireplace.
P.S. Kudos for making this recipe so easy!
dog, just tell me what size you are...uh, what size JACKET you wear!!! I'll do my best, but I make no guarantees, my friend. Vera Wang I aint!!!
I've heard the neckbone has lots of little bones in it. Did they get in your soup at all or were they easy to find? Just asking...I've never used the neckbone before, just the hock. Your soup sounds great.
I love being in the comfort zone!
I agree soup if one of the best things you can have...and this soup looks great!
