After overwhelming response we present: Beans - Versatile, healthy and not cheap anymore - dollar a pound if you're lucky. Beans beans the magical fruit the more you eat the more you toot. Cute as this is it isnt exactly true. You can develop a 'tolerance' for beans just as you would for meat or spouses or whatever. Tofu is beans made into cheese - gross right? yet....it doesnt 'taste' gross. So what is GROSS. BEANS!! I used to HATE beans. BEANS oh great we get to have beans again. Even the word is embarrasing. We dollop off that with ice cold red or green chile complete with all the cold fat and and we are talkin' a history and a past I never encountered. Sure we ate lots of beans, and sure I hated them but there was game and garden stuff too and it was never cold and fatty like the pictures.

Mmmm ... I *heart* beans ... especially black beans!
I don't eat alot of them, but I refused to eat them when I was a kid...
mmmmm beans!! yours looks mouthwatering. how could you have hated them!?
Dana: mmm black bean dip
Buffalo: we (I) eat more now
Pinknest: I dont know, I guess its cause every relative had them every day...no variety perhaps. I love em now.
I'll have to tell my girl about the tolerance things. She always brings up the tootin' problem.
I like them more now than I did when I was a kid...but I don't make them much. Guess I need to put some in the crockpot.
Guess what's for dinner?
Every now and again, I'll throw beans in the crockpot and I'm never disappointed. This time it was black beans and pintos soaking up chicken broth, garlic, curry powder and a Guinness.
As kids, we used to chant, "Beans, beans, they're good for your heart. The more you eat, the more you fart."
$1 a pound? Why you must live in NYC :)
Down here in Philly, they're about 69 cents a pound. And I love-love-love 'em.
Beans are great food for diabetics, they are very very good for you! Here in the south when I was growing up it was pinto beans, onions and cornbread with almost every meal.
As a Hispanic...I was subject to beans with EVERY meal. It took a long time for me to enjoy them again. We are finally old friends again, the bean and I.
Rice and Beans, mmmm! By the way- I forgot to say- very nice haircut!
I'm a bean fan! They are very much a part of our diet down here.
i like tooting.
I'm not a big bean eater, though I've eaten more beans in my thirties than I have the rest of my entire lifetime. Something about the digestive system needing them more when you get older. Ugh.
I love beans...any kind of beans..black, white, red, black eyes...any kind. YUM.
