go fish

Poached cod with a red pepper butter, simple, satisfying and something I have been making for years and years and years.

Farfalle soup for those sick days, except this one was 'fused' it has kombu.

Whole fried 'mullet' with mystery greens, yet these were not the oh so mysterious ones and an appreciated reader informed me what the other ones were - chrysanthemum, or 'tong ho' - thanks [eating club]vancouver!

I love the mystery greens.

Is mullet one the "oily" fish? I've never had it- thought it was a hairstyle.... :)

Forgot- great looking presentation!

micky-t: I have to agree!

harmony: thanks so much harmony you make my day!

tavolini: chinatown is good for anything 'mystery' thats for sure.

buff: Mullet are not oily and they are those fish you see jumping in the surf(ocean)whenever a larger fish is in the area - as for oily you might be thinking of Mackerel

I bet the cod dish would be great with tuna as well. So pretty!

Christo Gonzales said...

lisaiscooking: thanks - it is a nice light sauce that is heavy with flavor

marjie: its like doing card tricks - it doesnt take any time and its all sleight of hand

anette: total fish heaven -

dawn: damn, dawn is right!

jill: I would have to do a different sauce with tuna - some kind of wasabi thing....

Nice! Poached fish is so underrated!
Where do you get your cod?

Christo Gonzales said...

jesse: that sounds perfectly fine by me..but you know me.....

ulla: I am afraid to say for fear that there is some cod committee out there...I want to say its 'grass fed' but you would see right through that one....

You weren't kidding ... it is a fishy week! That poached fish and sauce look divine, doggy. And, I'm wishing I had some of that soup right this minute.

Feeling better?

Christo Gonzales said...

jenn: I could eat fired fish everyday and it would be like my first time....

five star: cod takes seconds to cook - any longer and those flakes fall apart....

diva: there is still one more coming...

I almost forgot ... the chrysanthemum ... how did they taste? Spicy? Bitter? I'm curious.

Maggie said...

They all look wonderful but the cod in the butter sauce with the lime has me, yum!

snugs said...

it all looks great, but I am with Maggie, I want the cod!

Christo Gonzales said...

diva: spicy and bitter but not in a bad way

TBD: hot water and a little lime and its poached

maggie: my vote all the way

snugs: long time favorite, I have been poaching cod since I was 18...why does that make sense? It doesnt.
