regular schmegular

S
chool has started, I have a sixth grader in a new middle school and he loved his first day so as a treat I made him some good ol'comfort. Regular days mean regular grub and regular grub involves potatoes. Roast chicken, green beans and a potato with basil mayonnaise.

It also means tuna salad but that was in his lunch stuffed in a kaiser roll.

Leftovers always play a roll and believe it or not there were a couple left over stuffed squash blossoms. This time its sweetly placed between a little sun dried tomato and basil oil.

Regular days are my favourites, and since I get most of them I consider myself a lucky person! If I got food like that on a regular day I would feel very comforted and happy! My kids has been back at school for almost a month!

That would have been great to pull out of my Snoopy lunchbox when I was a kid!

Well, I joined Foodbuzz... I actually packed the kid's lunches when they were in school- I liked doing it!

Have you been moonlighting as a food stylist during the day?

I'd say that basil mayo is anything but ordinary. This dinner sounds delicious!

I was wondering if you ever just made "regular people" food. So I find out that you do, but it still looks pretty darn special.

Mmm zippy mayo! :0)
Glad your son had a good day!

Question. Can you freeze the squash blossoms?

Cucinista said...

Ooh, I want you to make me my lunch.

Sippity Sup said...

Left over squash blossoms, put those in my lunch box... GREG

You know, I've tried doing the "comfort" foods for the little ones, but as my oldest once said: "Dad, that's great, but I'd much rather have pizza."

Thus, I do the quick and easy stuff, and only really splurge when guests come over, or when the wife and I have something to celebrate.

That chicken dinner does look mighty appetizing though!

Happy Back-to-School week to your son! Wishing him a great year!

And, personally, I would sure find that chicken dinner comforting right about now. Maybe one will magically appear in my kitchen?! LOL
