regular schmegular
School has started, I have a sixth grader in a new middle school and he loved his first day so as a treat I made him some good ol'comfort. Regular days mean regular grub and regular grub involves potatoes. Roast chicken, green beans and a potato with basil mayonnaise.
It also means tuna salad but that was in his lunch stuffed in a kaiser roll.
Leftovers always play a roll and believe it or not there were a couple left over stuffed squash blossoms. This time its sweetly placed between a little sun dried tomato and basil oil.

Regular is good. Delicious lunch...I'd eat it. My oldest is in 6th, too :D
Regular is what I do best.
Regular never looked SO good. Yummmm!
Now that's my kind of comfort food...especially the potato with basil mayonnaise.
I gotta say you make regular pretty damn good.
Yummmm.... so good!
Of course the regular dishes are the favorite ones so always the best :)
Regular looks so good !!! Potato with mayo awesome...
Regular days are my favourites, and since I get most of them I consider myself a lucky person! If I got food like that on a regular day I would feel very comforted and happy! My kids has been back at school for almost a month!
That would have been great to pull out of my Snoopy lunchbox when I was a kid!
Well, I joined Foodbuzz... I actually packed the kid's lunches when they were in school- I liked doing it!
Have you been moonlighting as a food stylist during the day?
Your daily plates look lovely.
i like your regular...the young pup in middle school! I bet you were a little shit at his age weren't ya??
I'm so jealous!
girli: tuna melts, tuna sandwich, tuna with fritos - I love tuna too! big jump from elementary to middle huh?
diana: me too
harmony: thanks harmony
pam: for me its the roast chicken - nothing brings back childhood sundays faster in my mind
jenn: thanks little J
selba: trade you for some sushi?
5 star: I think its their ease that makes them so comforting
pavithra: flavored mayos are favorites around these parts
anette: almost a month already? wow -
TW: I had a Herman the Munster lunch box - I was so into that show it was ridiculous
buff: good job on joining - be sure to inquire about the 'featured publisher' program
stace: awe shucks!
snugs: no comment
pigpig: trade you for a porkchop?
Oh yeah I bet the little mans' lunches are rocking when you make them. Lucky little shi*!
I did that too! Time for me to get moving on food projects
Regular is vital on weekdays, don't you think? Hope the pup enjoys his new school.
Comfort food at its best! :D
Congrats to the 6th grader - mine is a senior in high school - where did the time go??
Regular is always satisfying!
you make regular look grat!
All those regulars look great to me. Regular is more than fine.
I'd say that basil mayo is anything but ordinary. This dinner sounds delicious!
I was wondering if you ever just made "regular people" food. So I find out that you do, but it still looks pretty darn special.
Mmm zippy mayo! :0)
Glad your son had a good day!
Question. Can you freeze the squash blossoms?
Ooh, I want you to make me my lunch.
Left over squash blossoms, put those in my lunch box... GREG
You know, I've tried doing the "comfort" foods for the little ones, but as my oldest once said: "Dad, that's great, but I'd much rather have pizza."
Thus, I do the quick and easy stuff, and only really splurge when guests come over, or when the wife and I have something to celebrate.
That chicken dinner does look mighty appetizing though!
Happy Back-to-School week to your son! Wishing him a great year!
And, personally, I would sure find that chicken dinner comforting right about now. Maybe one will magically appear in my kitchen?! LOL
are you kidding me? unbelievable...
Neither one of us ate like that when we were in school.
I'll take regular any old day of the week!! YUMMMMM!!
I like regular food! Fall means comfort food to me, and this meal sounds perfect.
yummm!! perfect lunch! nice!!
cheers!
Wow--I like your version of tuna salad!! Beats mine to pieces.
