nice muffin

I
was thinking about this post and I was going to make all kinds of Amish puns and I couldnt think of any - then I was realizing that even if I insulted the Amish they technically would never know about it since using a computer is out of bounds. So here I am with the unpolitically correct ability to poke fun and I cant think of a thing to say. "But why are you thinking of the Amish" you wonder. I am thinking of the Amish because I am a recipient of some Amish Friendship Starter and I need to pass it along. I got it from Mo and I will give Mo a couple of muffins to show my friendship appreciation.

This is not bread, as you would be led to believe, it is more like cake batter. Oh I forgot to mention that it takes ten days of bag squishing and flour adding till you can make cake.

I have some barbie muffin 'tins'

And I have some GI Joe muffin 'tins'

The barbie muffin tins didnt rise enough - these came out flatter than a nine year old. (yeee -haw - I got something politically incorrect in there)

The GI Joe muffin tins worked perfectly except the instructions clearly say not to use metal! When the Amish are hungry what is it? Famished......har har har.

bina: It is exactly like friendship bread - some one gave them to me they are not "barbie" they are Calphalon, though, in real life.

harmony: me too - the barbie ones are new to me so maybe I dont know how to use them right.

Love the muffins!! 10 days, though? Don't know if I can last that long with mixing. But I guess if you want something bad enough, all it takes is dedication.

It is so weird that you posted this! I just got back last week from visiting friends in Salt Lake City and they were given a bag of Amish friendship cake batter. I hadn't heard of it before and then you post about it. Interesting.

Which proves my theory: that it's easier to get a rise out a man than a woman. (Take that anyway you please.)

Christo Gonzales said...

5 star: calphalon - I am new to the rubber baking things

jesse: its too many days of having a hacking cough and then today it is gone!

micky-t: portable cakes is the way to go!

jeanne: we criss-crossed - and a woman is deeper than any man can rise...or something like that...

That was a fun post!!! You know sometimes the GI Joe is the only thing that will do!!! ha ha ha.

Poor old Barbie, with all that silicone you would have thought they would have risen beautifully.

Have a good one!!

now that's a muffin top I'd like to have!!!

I've been making this for a couple of months now. I finally put my starter in the freezer... Do you sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on it???

Harmony said...

LMAO @ Jeanne...that was very good!

Never trust a floppy bakingtray! she said sceptically. But the GI Joe Muffins turned out very masculine and tasty!

lol--nice barbie tins!

My daughter bought me some silicone bakeware for xmas, and it takes longer to cook, and doesn't seem to rise as much. I prefer my old metal and glass stuff - some of which has been with me for 30 years.

Christo Gonzales said...

mandi: I dont like silicone anything!

beth: wouldnt be hard to duplicate...

mish: no I didnt but I will next time

harmony: that jeanne is a hoot isnt she?

anette: I couldnt have said it better.

tavolini: yeah - real nice...LOL

marjie: exactly - I wont be buying any for myself thats for sure.

Friendship bread, I assume.. as a muffin looks terrific, did you like the taste or was it sour..

I just got some 3+ weeks ago ( Amish Friendship bread starter) and already the house is over run with loaves.
I'm tired of it, tired of passing it off on friends...it is running my life. How do i make the starter for when I WANT to make it? somebody had to start it somewhere from scratch.
