That video is hysterical! And last time we went mushroom hunting we realized that our dog found - and scarfed down - every edible mushroom in our path before we found it!

Great cookbook!

Hey now you can cook just like Julia Child! Drool, talk alot, throw food everywhere and end up with a delicious and beautiful dish.....oh, wait..you already do that

I have that cookbook and it's wonderful. Try the butterflied and grilled lamb in it - always a winner for summer barbeques.

When you plant the purple flowers and make the jelly, send me some!

Yesterday's news today? I love that!

The video made me chuckle "No mushrooms yet" I hope it worked out for you, something tells me it did.

You're looking like you enjoyed the walk anyway, wasn't just a day or later when you found them?

A classic book for sure. Sweet!

How did the purple jelly turn out? Curious Diva wants to know.

Also, I must thank you for the red onion tea cure ... I've been having it every day and it really does help. Thank you, thank you!! :)

jamie: they are starting to use dogs to find truffles because the pigs snarf em down -never heard that about a dog..

merm: looks like somebody needs their own comedy show...and I would be upset if it wasnt true...

ciao: I saw that one and it caught my eye instantly

katherine: foraging for the violets hot gardening- you might have them around you if you look - they are wild

harmony: this was made before I found them so yes it did work out

pooja: mine came out more like a syrup -

spin: the very next day

sweta: all my cookbooks gather dust...

the diva: jelly cam out more like a syrup but still nice and I am glad the 'mixture' helped

burp: today or maybe tomorrow

buff: I have made jellies in the past but like I have mentioned this was more syrupy - I didnt use packaged pectin I made my own from boiled down apples

oneshot: some really great stuff!

I want that book. =)

That jelly does sound very very scrumptious. I can see the determination in your eyes as you forage for them mushrooms.

I'm on a book (of any kind) buying moratorium for the time being so it's 3-week loaners for me. Judging from the bounty on the table from your 'wine caps' post, the 'no mushrooms yet' situation was soon resolved.

BTW, I jumped over to CCL's site and have fallen in loved with the violet jelly!

Love that cookbook - Julia is the best.

Hope you found some mushrooms.

Well, no mushrooms but a good classic cookbook makes a good day for any foodie. At least it will do it for me. :)

Have a nice day, love reading your posts.

First of all thanks for the heart- felt comments on my blog about my experiences....I appreciate your comments

second....during my travels back and forth between Chicago and home I listened to the audio book of Julie's memoir...unabridged...it was absolutely wonderful... the reader had a marvelous voice...and it was an auditory treat just to hear the french pronounciation of the dishes or menu....as you know...I'm no cook...but I was absolutely inspired by her story...especially the part where she mentioned she didn't start cooking till she was in her forties. There's hope for me yet...LOL>>>

So you may want to give the audio book a try....

Yes, I know they use dogs now for truffle hunting - I live in France and they put stuff like that on the news all the time (like it is always news!). Yet you will notice that they never use Boston Terriers :-)
