berry fine
Before I get started I need to mention the fantastic foodbuzz event I went to last night at David Burke Townhouse to celebrate the one millionth post on this rapidly rising site. The food was out of this world, both the savory and the sweet, and David Burke is such a nice guy. Let me say this 'lobster flan in an eggshell' does that paint enough of a picture? This wasnt it, but similar. My bouche was amused all night long. As I find posts I will link them - here is one by Dessert Buzz. Dessert Buzz has a one track mind and its all things sweet. She can review the reviewed and still review, Jessica at Harley Confections always finds her twist. When your name is initials then you know you are on to something and TW at Culinary Types is in on it.
Mushroom update: None, meaning there is no mushroom update. I am trying to concentrate the flavors and it is taking a while but as we wait for the results I have made pizza.
Violet jelly update: Minimal, meaning minimal. I have not done anything significant with the violet jelly yet. I cant think of anything besides a vanilla souffle and Ciao Chow Linda made a lemon souffle and I would feel like I didnt come up with an original idea. Plus my jelly came out more syrupy and purple not violet and silky.
I did drizzle some violet syrup around a pork chop and it was mighty tasty.
My kid wanted his with fries.
....and if this isnt enough - because of the jelly influences lately I made strawberry jam and syrup; more on that later.

Looks fabulous! Wow! I love everything with berries!
Wow everything looks delicious n tempting! Aww makes me hungry!
You went to the event last night?! How cool! I wish I could have been there too, but I had tickets to something else last night. Sounds wonderful though and that pizza looks magnifico!
That foodbuzz event sounds pretty cool. I want details. What did you eat? Brava to you for finding the violets and making the jelly. For some reason, mine turned out a little too syrupy this year too - I don't know what I did differently either. Still, it's pretty on desserts like souffles, ice creams and it can even be used on toast.
Lobster flan in an eggshell? I need you to get the crayons out and finish the picture cuz I don't understand that..remember I was blonde in a previous life ya know..
Glad you had a good time! Harder and harder to get access to your blog- all on Food Buzz have so many ads, I sometimes can't even get on..
Do you ship the jam internationally? hahaha.
The pizza and pork chop look so yum!
dana: thanks berry much-
pooja: pizza makes the world go round
diva: tickets? what did you see?
linda: I like it as a syrup actually - but I think its the sugar to pectin ratio
snugs: empty eggshell like a little container - small spoon - warm flan made with lobster...
buff: I limit the ads - I wonder what else it could be...most blogs open up pretty fast for me
kenny: if it wouldnt cost like 20 bucks to send a 4 dollar jam I would do it....
super-duper post! so glad you went to that event, congrats on 1 million posts!! do you really think i should get my own comedy show...i don't think i could always be "on"..you, however need to be on the food network, or hdtv!!
did the violet jelly taste good though? why didn't it come out thick?
I really want to try that.
Totally craving pizza and fries now...not a good combo!
merm: isnt hdtv a type of signal?
dawn: it was a very mild flavor and it wasnt thick because I cringed at how much sugar was needed
TBD: I like mine extra crispy and extra cheesey...
Mahler's 6th symphony at Carnegie Hall. 'Twas excellent, but I'm still bummed about missing the FB event ... and you, of course!
Ooooh, fun! That must've been an event to go down in the books. Wowzers.
Am coming to your house for dinner!
Glad you had a great time at the event.
Nice. on those jams, too. Even though violet looks syrupy it looks tasty with that steak and fries.
I just might get to my violets before the mower does. Betcha my fussy eaters refuse to touch it!
How neat that you got to go to the Foodbuzz event! I would have loved to try the 'lobster flan in an eggshell'! The steak sounds good with the violet syrup.
You are keeping busy! Bet the strawberry jam is lovely! Are you saving it for the winter?
diva: I bet the concert was better -we had to stand the whole time....lol
chrystal: it was packed!
spin: thanks for the heads up...
jenn: I think it would be great on a crepe or a vanilla souffle...even though it is syrupy
marjie: get the guys out there picking them - make them hate it even more...LOL
5 star: I didnt take any pictures - there was a photographer there on assignment pretty much getting everything - I hope those post soon somewhere...the lobster flan was pleasantly warm and creamy loose.
anette: hey you snuck by...yeah I thought it would be nice to do something other than dry things like I usually do...
lobster flan in an eggshell...yum yum! The steak with violet syrup sounds amazing!
OMgosh...Pizza is my weakness and that looks sooooo yummy...
I need to move to NY
This time your blog opened with no trouble! Probably something on my end...
Strawberry jam and syrup-I'd love the recipe for that. My son has suddenly developed a liking for strawberry jam!
that too...i believe the full title of the channel is the home decorating television network, channel thousand something-or-other. they could use a good cooking show
pigpig: yes, I have had the eggshell flan on my mind all day
justelling: this is a kicked up pizza too...
buff: it could be all kinds of things
sweta: if this comes out good I'll give you the recipe...it smells good!
merm: good lookin'
Violet jelly with pork sounds very interesting!
between the violet jelly and the strawberry jelly it looks like you've been on a canning kick! send some my way :)
Violet jelly on crepes makes my head spin - even though I'm only imagining what it might taste like. Or on some kind of cream cheese stuffed french toast like with croissants?!! MMMMMM. The event sounds great! Awesome eats.
It looks so delicious.. especially the violet jelly.
Wow lovely syrup and the piza looks very delectale and I was disappointed that there was no Mushrooms :(
lisais: it is a nice mellow sweet contrast to the garlicy pork
hornsfan: experimenting for the most part..
reeni: cream cheese crepes it is!
selba: thanks - I think I am going to infuse it again to make it even darker purple
ramya: there are minimal mushrooms and it is a mushroom pizza....
I'm jealous that you get to go to the foodbuzz events... I keep getting invited but they're always on weeknights and I live to far. lame! I should move! haha
I love the violet syrup. I'd want to play with a creme brulee with that. The pork shop sounds interesting though too.
