wild onions
My mushroom hunting buddy brought me some wild onions he found. Still too chilly for mushrooms but the greens are up and tasty. Morels are first on the list and I am hoping to find some doozies, followed closely by the winecaps and then its full blown mushroomgasms. In fact each month has some glorious offering and I cant wait.

These are Ramps, Wild Leeks not Wild Onions....I'm gonna need you people to be a little more alert....All day they sat there in their broad leaf obviousness. Its ok though because Bina is finding christmas tree sponges and is enjoying the heck out of them. How do you spell jelus?

mushroomgasms....I'll take 2 please...to go
I'll have what she's having.
Morels are the best! Gonna be a little late this year in Michigan..
I'm an asparagus hunter! It grows wild out here and is so much better than what I get at the market.
I had grilled portabellos the other night. YUMMY!
Do, we have those EVERYWHERE, both the onions and mushrooms. However, I'm not sure what kind you are talking about. But here, they look kinda like little Christmas Tree Sponges. That's the only way I know how to describe them. You roll them in corn meal and fry them up and my God they are good!
I'm sure Beth remembers how much I love those green (and wild) onions. I just dip them in salt and eat them raw!
bina: those sound like Morels...they are delicious and hard to find up east and expensive if you want to buy them...good for you
I would have loved to come with you on your search for natures free and fresh stuff!
beth: they do come in multiples
kitt: doubled up and ready
buff: late all over except tennessee it seems
dana: I find those too
claudia: butter bring on the butter
anette: I would love to go looking in your forests I am sure I would find good things
When it comes to mushrooms...I'm a bit conservative...preferring to get them at a legitimate retail place or farmers market. Onions, sure, I'll take wild ones from friends...
I love onions! raw especially! I usually eat them as I'm slicing them up.
