I am a 'yo mama vore' I will eat anything remotely nutritional that is within my grasp including yo mama. Locavore is such a cute word for people that live in cities. I grew up in the country and I know quite a few people that also grew up in countries. Locavore is the new word for 'macrobiotic' a term we have not heard from in a while a city word made up by city 'locavores' who have moved to more 'rural' areas. My tomato plants will never give me 'proper' fruits but they sure do look good.

DB, the tomato plant is beautiful. It's almost a work of art. I love the way the stems curl around. At least you can grown plants. I've managed to kill a few strawberry plants, all of my herb plants and do you want to hear about my trees? My hubby and I planted 12 pine trees in our backyard. All but one died. I have fianlly accepted that not only is my thumb NOT green, it's toxic! :)
Locavore & macrobiotic are not in my personal dictionary & I don't really think I want them there; however bread (not the group) cheese, wine and tomatoes are :P)
New word I learned today: Locavore. Those are some awesome tomatoes. I've love to have a tomato plant, but space is limited where I am.

Missing my garden this year.. with my recent move I wasnt able to plant the normal 10-15 tomato plants I normally do, or cucumbers, peppers, blah blah blah. Always next year. Thanks for teaching me my new word of the day..locavore. I could play on the words yo mama vore but I am being a good girl for the time being.

I think the smell of tomato plants is one of my favorite scents. That and fresh bread.

I had the same prob when I used to try and grow veggies as a kid in my balcony in Bombay-they would turn out like bonsai tomatoes/potatoes and it wasn't even cute!

I found giant green catepillar type things on my tomatoes yesterday. Cut worms?! They had denuded the top foot of my plants!! I've been pillaged!

I actually managed a 100% local dinner tonight, thanks to my father-in-laws cucumbers and my neighbors squash and cabbage.

Being from the UK I've never heard the word 'locavore' - where does it come from? By the way, your tomatoes look lovely! They need some tomato feed, lots of water and sun and they should do well.
oh, they aren't touching anything. Its something with the low calcium content of my soil. I've got them climbing our fence. Hopefully only a few will be effected.
