tamale time
When you dont know what time it is, then it is probably tamale time.
24 seven, we are tamale central from 11.27 until 01.05
These little beauties are appetizer size and they contain a mixed seafood combo of shrimp, crab and octopus.
Make a dozen or so just to be sure.

some fancy tamales - they look great!
Tamales are work! Gourmet tamales are raising the bar! I will eat the heck out of that!
did you have extra hands to help?
I'm putting my mom and daughter on the ravioli making assembly line today..
hornsfan: eye candy...
buff: its a zen process, like running a marathon...if you have done it once it isnt so bad after that..
snugs: I can do it easier by myself..making them took less than an hour - they steamed for an hour and a half...the raviolis sound like a fun time...try the egg thing...
Fun! The seafood is a nice twist and I like your wrapping method.
Do you mix your own masa? I'm guessing not, if you're making these in less than an hour.
The last time I made tamales, it took me two days, but I was doing a slow-cooked pork shoulder for the filling and making several dozen to take to a tailgate party in Oakland. (I was a little surprised TSA didn't nick a few.)
How elegant! It's something enchanting about wrapped food!
Kitt: totally from scratch, I only made about a dozen, I make them all the time I have my system down..
anette: it does seem more special wrapped doesnt it?
It totally does!! What are these wrapped in?
anette: dried corn husk, you know the leaves that are on corn..
Yeah I came back to see Tamales...I love me some right now...
I've never had a tamale. Yours looks like a yummy start.
chef e: and these are exceptionally good, the masa came out real light a fluffy
raisin girl: you can have one if you let me in to your blog...I left you an e mail in your comments last week
Your ability to cook [to me the unknown], and take fabulous pictures to post on this site, more often than not, sets my salivary glands into salivating overtime.
Where's the red chile???
mickey t: with that I feel successful - thanks for that comment!
ap: not on these, it would over power the seafood, the seafood was seasoned with a little chile before going in the tamale.
Like every year...I have overdosed on tamales...serious detox is in order!
You made some scrumptious looking Christmas eats!! And I've never had tamales before, but Woobie is convinced he had them once at the babysitters and loved them. I'm going to have to ask her if she made them.
Does octopus taste like calamari? I love calamari...
