soul food

Who doesnt like a hot bowl of soup? Soup is a constant around these parts it gets requested through out the year.

If you dont like mushrooms then you need to ease on down the road, dont worry there will be other days that are fungus free. This is a chicken and mushroom delight - you can have it with chicken, without chicken, with mushrooms without mushrooms or a combo. It warms your soul!

Your broth looks amazing! I think that soup is the best "soul food" and you've reminded me that it's time to make another pot.

Looks delicious! Upon first glance, I thought you had chicken and meatballs in the same soup, but after sipping some more coffee, I realized that the "meatballs" were really mushrooms! ;-)

I also thought it was meatballs...it looks wonderful

a whole chicken leg in the bowl of soup? Sounds messy to me :)

That looks like fricasse.
give a bowl to the tire man, I can't get him out of my crazy head.

I just realized, those are shrooms not meatballs.

michele: thanks and welcome - I will see if I can find those bulbs

michelle: see you have 2 L's - LOL - it seems to be the misunderstanding du jour

snugs: get off the band wagon

tavolini: it wasnt that messy - spoon, knife , fork the whole utensil family

stacey: isnt fricase tomato based - come on doesnt anyone read and see that there is an entire pan of MUSHROOMS....upon reflection it could be another version of a fricase

That's just beauty!! I feel my mouth water as I read, and I just wished thats what I was having for dinner!! I've found so many good ways of using chicken legs lately, and this was a new one. Messyness? Not so much. Or if it is, who cares! Grab a tissue and enjoy!

That looks just fine the way it is! Glad I made turkey stock out of the carcass on Thanksgiving...

That's it! I need to make more soup. Comfort food for sure!

Clearing out clutter from the house is making me want to cook again. I feel like I'm getting not only my house but my life back. I'm a little over 2/7 finished, so I guess I have 2/7 of my life back, or all of it when I'm in those two rooms. Makes sense to me.

I recognize them shrooms anywhere, and love them! No dinner tonight for R, I have Open Mic and he has one more trout carcass to devour, and then a little surprise tomorrow night before I hit the runway...

Your photos are so darn cool...you have legappeal!

Joy said...

Btw, the photography on that bowl of soup is outstanding!

Christo Gonzales said...

anette: I like to get in up to my elbows when I eat so messiness is always an option

buff: we breezed right through the turkey stock and I had to make chicken stock since we were on a roll

joy: thats funny that you are 2/7 done...

chef e: I could sure go for one of those trouts....thanks!

joy: thanks a whole bunch......I appreciate that!

snugs said...

band wagon? what band wagon? I'll show you a band wagon! Be nice or I am gonna throw you a tire and chain :) hey maybe if you had started with the prep pics we would not all have thought they were meatballs, but you posted your pretty pics backwards

Christo Gonzales said...

spin: now me and everyone else is gonna go...LOL -turkey broth is better than chicken - and thats my statement for the day

marjie: when the weather outside is frightful soup is so delightful...

snugs: I need to change things up a bit sometimes - all my pictures were looking like they came from the 'same' story....

Next time we are up your way next spring, bring the son and meet us at the river...we will smoke them on the spot (of course we have to catch them first), and you can contribute a side dish and I am sure lots of laughs to go with! (We'll bring the wine of course)
