the call of the wild
The Call of the Wild is a novel by American writer Jack London. The plot concerns a previously domesticated and even somewhat pampered dog named Buck, whose primordial instincts return after a series of events...... Its possible most of you have read this book, interesting story, a classic that was followed up later by White Fang in which a wild wolf becomes civilized...I recommend them if you have not read them.
I like to eat things from nature as often as I can, whether its some hand picked chestnuts or mushrooms that I have foraged or even some game meat, eating the things that nature provides gives me a feeling of wholeness. I thought that I should show you what not an average, proper Irish breakfast looks like. It has a lot of the same things as a 'proper' Irish breakfast except for my little spins here and there.
I start off with some Peruvian purple potatoes.
A few field mushrooms
Eggs-organic, free range, never yelled at, tricked or beguiled, in fact these eggs are so innocent they are probably virgins, a claim not easily made by most!
Slab bacon, New Mexico red chile and on the plate it goes. The first picture above has the chile under the eggs but I like to add a little more on top, I am spicy like that!
Be careful when you cry wolf!

LMAO!!oh you are so clever you wild wolf dawg you! I wouldn't mind being your lil red riding hood, especially not if it included a plate like that..don;t go gettin too civilized on us...
Do not ever do that to me again! That last photo sent me over the edge... Involuntary orgasms are embarrassing, to say the least... Jack London never did that to me, God bless him!
snugs: thats a deal!
buff: you made me blush - and I dont blush easily!
mmm. Looks good. I would need some bread product, too. I love spicy eggs!
I love bacon...and eggs...you just need some pancakes and waffles!
tavolini: what you dont see are the fresh tortillas
TBD: mmmm some pumpkin pancakes would be great!
Dude. even I'D eat taht!
are there pancakes in the wild?
My dearly beloved loves a good plate of eggs and meat, but he likes his with toast made from my homemade bread. I think this is traditional MEN'S breakfast, not just Irish!
ahh, tortillas :)
You are speaking my language.
Buff gives me ham, you give me bacon.
I adore you guys....
All you're missing is some of my venison sausage. I have to say that looks pretty darn yummy!
TK: there are pancakes in the wild when I go camping is that good enough?
marjie: I think that is probably correct!
tavolini: its 'pig latin' isnt it?
anndi: this food would get you and chicklet back on your feet!
spin: is that 'code' for something?
Yes, I'll have my eggs and mushrooms just like that please! I'll share my bacon, but not all of it. And I might just have to lick the plate before I'm done if thats ok with you! I know, I know, its not good manners, but lets say we're out in the wilderness, no one will see! In fact I don't really care, I'm old enough now to do it without permission!
Man, you know how to eat!
Sitting on a stump hunkered up against a morning fire in the late fall New England woods eating a breakfast like that would be fit for a king!
Yes you are spicey!!!! That looks wonderful - a better thing for me to eat at 9am (rather than chicken soup), but hey I will eat anything at any time........love my food just a little too much!!!
anette: I think licking your plate would be fine - why not?
joie de vivre: coming from you thats a mighty nice compliment - thanks!
micky-t: that stump sounds pretty darn cozy....
mandi: its getting to be about morning for you now isnt it? Oh who knows - and what about your spicy self?
You ARE spicey, you old fart!!!
Thanks for calling me...a couple of times. Love you.
xoxoxox
That looks a lot like my breakfast this morning except for no purple potatoes, no chile sauce, no mushrooms - but with grits and oat toast with some black cherry preserves. Well, I guess just the slab bacon and free-range eggs. LOL It's all good. I'll branch out. OK?
Oh, and black coffee.
beth: salty is probably more like it....
joy: I had coffee too...I forgot to mention that...
What? I think I will take the bacon and eggs...mmm and the mushrooms
Loved the books as a kid. I watched the movies again several months ago... The breakfast looks pretty darn good!
I was totally in thrawled by the whole story, the plot, and now the ending... a beautiful plate...my favorite action, thriller, and romance with the ingredients...
Dog- I just had to spend a fortune to fill my sons cabinets and other areas of the apartment just to put some meat on this kids bones! Bacon and eggs to boot...
Wait, how come i can't access Mandi's blog. What did you tell her about me? haha.
Nice breaksfast, you wild man!
just telling: you got it - want a tortilla too?
michelle: I LOVED the books as a kid and as an adult...
chef e: the kid had a plan and it worked - you stocking him up!
zen: she will see this and perhaps send an e mail or something - if not I will 'nudge' her ....
..."little spins" indeed!!!...looks phfantastic!!!!...
I saw both of those movies, and man do I LOVE them!!!!
Once again, that food looks GREAT!
Ha Ha! I LOVE what Buff said!
