not all wine and roses

ith all the cool and exotic ingredients I have been posting lately you probably think that we are a pampered bunch around here and while the wish for that to be true is evident, the fact is we are not - I still get up and my assistant puts on my Pradas for me one foot at a time just like anyone else.

My son used to have a hard time in grade school during lunch time since he had more 'custom' made lunches that differed significantly from the average peanut butter and jelly (pb&j) of his classmates. This conflict was so severe that he often asked me to 'just leave out dessert' since it was usually the sweets that threw the other kids into a lunch grabbing frenzy.

When it gets colder soups kick in but until then its a sandwich, in this case nice and rare roast beef with a little DUDEK mustard from my good friend Buffalodick, a little thinly sliced onion and some farmhouse cheddar that all gets drizzled with a little vinegar and oil and fresh black pepper - now thats a nice lunch!

Breakfast is, ironically, how I start my day - I know, a little cliche, but I cant figure out any other way. I have made it pretty clear how much I like eggs and an egg sandwich fits the bill.

Toasted english muffin with bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, and fresh mayo are partners in crime, and you? How do you put on your Pradas?

Three more posts till I hit 1000 - I had planned on presenting the best of those 1000 and I realized I havent had that one yet so who knows what will happen - chances are it will be a day like any other day. Happy Gridlock Alert Days! NYC has that as one of hour holiday alerts......(not the happy part but the warning part)...I wear size 10 -10.5, 43 european if anyone wants to buy me some sensible shoes.

I'm out of my supply of Dudeks! You gave me two good reasons to hit the meat market- Sliced roast beast, and more mustard!

I want that sandwich..

Wish I could answer the question, but I can't afford Prada (or an assistant, for that matter). We're so different, Christo. :-(

Well, at least we both like eggs. :-)

buff: it IS a tasty mustard! Thanks again.

snugs: yeah...and?

leela: I dont think we're that different - we both have vivid imaginations

I'll take wine and roses, or chocolate and roses. Or just that sandwich, minus the onions.

That sandwich sounds good for lunch! I saw the picture of shoes and thought of Charlie Chaplin :)

you have lucky kids... My mother ruined P&J... no one would trade... ever

I agree, your kid is mighty lucky! And, I guess I'm cliche too ... I loves me some breakfast, especially in the form of an egg sandwich. Hold the mayo on mine and add butter!

Can I fly you over here to make my lunches?

Three more posts!! Woo hoo!!! We shall have to toast in your honor :)

Sandwich looks top notch. I don't need prada, but I certainly wouldn't balk at an assistant!

Wow 1,000 posts! Congrats, that's remarkable! I remember the kids used to give me crap b/c my mom would put alfalfa sprouts in my wraps or pitas - not quite a PB&J blend-in. hehe

Handsome shoes and even better looking sandwich!! Can't wait to read your 1000th post :)

Ah, I'm more of a jimmy choo girl myself. ;)

That sandwich looks awesome. And I was always the same way in school. I hated normal kid food. My lunches rocked. (Luckily I had a great Mom who was willing to make them for me!)

You are almost there! Will there be eggs to celebrate?

I need to get more creative with lunches. For me it's all about what's quick and what's in the pantry. That sandwich looks amazing!

If Prada made a pair of walking shoes, I might consider, but I just know they would cripple my pitiful flat feet.

YUM. Both of these sandwiches look DElicious! Gotta have that roast beef now but I don't have the ingredients on hand. But I do have everything to make that egg sandwich for breakfast.

What wonderful lunches you make your son. He's lucky. Personally I never cared for the PB&J myself. My mother made home-made mayonnaise every week and, as a child, I didn't know it also came in a jar from the store.

1000 - wow, I'm not sure I can count that high in blogger terms. Congratulations. As for the Prada shoes, "everyone should have a few good things." At least that's what I tell my husband when I admire the David Yurman jewelry at Saks.

Happy holidays,
Sam
