I have sole and morels - I must be going through a life change

Not having my own camera has been a blessing in disguise. I still do everything I used to do when I posted about it constantly the only difference now is since I dont have a camera at the ready I dont feel the 'obligation' to document it. Dont get me wrong five years of blogging has been great and I have noticed the surge of blogs in the last couple of years which is also great but having this break has been the greatest. I still read hundreds of blogs on my reader and I am still inspired and annoyed in equal measure but having this self imposed distance has enabled me to get a good perspective on things. What will all of this mean? Nothing. Once I get a camera I will be back in black, nine lives, cats eyes the whole works. We eat a lot of corn on the cob made in all kinds of ways, grilled, boiled - you name it, for about a two or three week window - this one has mexican mayonnaise, cotija cheese, red chile, a squeeze of lime and salt - tasty on a stick! How do you like your corn?

With the abundance of fruits, melons and berries we have been making the best of the season enjoying this bounty in any way we can think. This is a lightly sauteed sole filet that was sauteed in butter with some morel mushrooms then it was served on top of some cucumber 'slaw' with a few blackberries scattered around for sweet/tartness and a little dollop of masago for color and fishy richness.

This was one lunch dish that made it through the rotation twice it was so good, the first time I made it to rave reviews I was asked to make it again only a couple days later, this is one redundancy I can deal with.

That is EXACTLY the way I like my corn...although while hubby prefers the mayo (go figure), I prefer to sub crema in its place =)

you know we have little mobile food trailers here that sell the corn just like that, on both sides of the border. Glad to see you back :)

Maybe all food bloggers should be forced to step back, take a break and made to study everyone elses food blogs to see what's good and what's bad? So we can see ourselves a little more clearly? Well, I am looking forward to more of your food porn photos. Like that corn. Wow! MMmmm. And fruit with fish? Oh now I want to try that.

The corn looks amazing - sort of like an adult lollipop.

All of these fresh corn on the cob posts are killing me! We won't have fresh corn for another couple of weeks here in Colorado. I most certainly will dress mine up just like this and give it a try. I usually just gobble it up with some salt/pepper and butter. The sole looks beautiful Doggie!

I love my corn roasted on the grill and then dipped in butter and lot of pepper and little salt. I guess I'm a bit traditional :)

I've never heard of putting anything but butter on corn on the cob.

I seriously need to get out more.

Thanks for opening my eyes to whole new worlds!

Sometimes I feel obligated to write when I just don't feel like it. So I understand your relief at not having to blog constantly!

I like my corn with EVO oil, salt, pepper and a little citrus so this looks amazing. I'm going to try the chili - maybe chipotle. Yum.

And I love when something is good enough to make twice in a row. Good job!

I am so boring - if the corn is just picked - lightly grilled and done. Maybe a touch of salt. Although do love the lime. I love the way you used the morels - it lets it earthiness just take center stage. I could scarf it ll down happily.

Your picture of the corn is how I like my corn - sheer perfection. Now the sole and morels, that's heaven,
