Why do people join groups to learn how to do things independently? I will never understand the lemmings and turkeys of this world and if you dont know what I mean by that I will explain - you put one turkey in a box then all the turkeys will want to be in that box - one lemming jumps off a cliff then all the other lemmings will follow. There are so many various blog conferences out there that purport to teach bloggers how to be better bloggers for a fee - well I have news for you - you've been had. These types of conferences are designed to make money for the people putting on the conference by sucking in the gullible who will pay the fees to "learn" and then walk away with a potato peeler and some wine or what ever other little doo-dads they can put together on the cheap. Typically they might get some sponsors and then the sponsors will give things away. Its a pretty simple and basic formula - buy the book on how to get rich but the only person getting rich is the person selling the book. Whats my point? No point, just having a good chuckle to myself when I hear about these "blog conferences" thats all.

Then go to Vanessa's dumpling house on Eldridge - not only are they known for the best and cheapest dumplings in all the land but they make a mean sesame pancake sandwich too.

I opted for the peking duck that set me back an outstanding $2.25. Oh, I could give you some kind of negative review like the lines are too long for both the food and the bathroom and its hard to get a seat but that kind of inconvenience would only make you run not walk to the place so why bother.

I will even post the menu so you can see how cheap it is and then you can act all cool like you discovered something when you brag about it to your friends - and just so you know not too many people can remember the place before it got renovated - I am one of those people.

The King of Fruits

Durian, forget everything you have heard about it or havent heard or might hear later - it isnt that bad. Now I know, who wants to eat anything that is prefaced with "it isnt that bad" but seriously it isnt. Its creamy, sweet and pungent to be sure but I think the fact that it was ice cold kept some of its aroma to a minimum. I had already picked up the chicken the rabbit the fruits the veggies and whatever else I needed in chinatown when while we were at the car a vendor was carving into a durian. I stopped to admire his skill when he asked if I had ever tasted it and I said no while asking how much was a whole one. He said it is a dollar twenty per pound and a whole one is about 11 dollars but if you want I will sell you a large taste for one dollar. I whipped out a buck he carved out one of the seed pods and just like that I was eating durian. The pup said the texture was too wierd, banana loved it and I did too. We were watched closely by about several other vendors and they seemed to be waiting for us to freak out but all were pleasantly surprised when we seemed to enjoy it. So there you go.

Tan My My

The 'agitated' fish market. I went - again - this morning to get more Tilapia and some wild Louisiana shrimp, they werent agitated today mostly because I helped myself and left them to tend to the other customers.

This is just the fresh fish section, there is also a frozen section with crab legs and whatever else is frozen, and a complete butcher shop with butchers showcasing beef, pork and poultry. There is a dumpling lady offering samples of dumplings and a sushi guy (he's new) and wrapping around the outside is fresh produce. So 5 pounds of shrimp and 4 pounds of tilapia later its on the blog.

Dazed and Confused

Well there was no way out of it, today I had to sign on the new blogger. I resisted until the very end kicking and screaming all the way but here I am and here we go.

Dazed and confused, ball of confusion, purple haze, somebody help me with the song that can express the total foggy dream I feel like I am in. This is a feeling unlike any other Its like love its like happiness its like seeing the ocean for the first time and its like confusion. Its like when I go to Mongolian Hot pot in chinatown and there are so many delicious choices and the best part is that I can choose them all. I am happy as a clam with no reason to be so, well maybe one reason but it isnt like its something I can express, it is deep it is perfect and it can be all mine if only I can wait. I will wait and when it happens I will scream to all the world.
